Fibre Fest 2025 - 15th - 16th March
As an other Fibre Fest approaches we have planned an exciting variety of workshops, learning techniques and exhibitions for you to enjoy
2025 Dornoch Fibre Fest will be offering a two day Masterclass, with Chrissie Ryder, showing you how to create your own 'stained glass' appliqué picture. We will also have another one day appliqué class, Dorset Buttons, Peg Loom, Fair Isle knitting, Short Row knitting, Needle Punch, Wet Felting and Embroidery techniques. Our brochure is now available in businesses around the Highlands and a stunning photo of Chrissie's 'stained glass' appliqué boat will be on the front. How fabulous is that!
We hope that our range of classes will inspire you to take up a new craft or further your skills.
We are delighted to have Jane Bissett as our speaker on Friday evening when you can hear first hand what the an art of Shepherding is really like.
There are two Trading Halls at Dornoch Fibre Fest: the Social Club (Community Centre); and the West Church Hall, with free entry to both.
We try to keep our class costs as reasonable as possible, so we will be holding a raffle which will be drawn on Sunday afternoon in the Social Club.
During 2024 Historylinks Museum in Dornoch underwent building work to enlarge the museum. The Museum will display some of the newly- commissioned "Spirit of the Highlands & Islands" tapestry panels designed by renowned artist Andrew Crummy. These can be seen there during Fibre Fest.
The Museum is also providing us with additional space to offer more classes and hosting an exhibition of beautiful historical costumes.
The Highland Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will be demonstrating in the Hub building over the weekend. Their members are always happy to share their knowledge and you are welcome to try your hand. Please just ask.
